A POLICE car was involved in a crash as it responded to an emergency incident.

The car was badly damaged in the collision on the A27 at Poling, near Arundel, yesterday afternoon.

Officers had been called to a domestic incident and switched on the car's blue lights as they responded to the report.

But the car collided with a Seat Ibiza as they made their way to the scene.

A Sussex Police spokesman said: "A Seat Ibiza was in collision with a marked police vehicle on the A27 at Poling, near Arundel, on Sunday.

"The police vehicle, a Vauxhall Astra, which was responding to a domestic incident, was on blue lights and was arriving at the scene when the collision occurred at 1.50pm. It sustained rear end damage. Two male police officers in the car were uninjured.

"A 33-year-old woman from Chichester, who was driving the blue Seat, was treated by ambulance paramedics. Her injuries are not believed to be serious.

"Anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to report online or call 101 quoting serial 585 of 26/07."
