A SECOND man has been arrested after a cyclist was shot and seriously injured with a BB gun pellet.

Police are investigating an incident where a 65-year-old man was injured by the ball bearing in St Leonards on July 10.

The cyclist was riding in Bexhill Road at 6.20pm, and suffered a head injury that meant he had to be taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton where he remains.

The next day, a 37-year-old man also said he had been hit by a pellet from a BB gun from a passing vehicle in Mount Pleasant Road, Hastings.

At first 26-year-old man from St Leonards was arrested on suspicion of offences including inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent and drugs offences.

A 23-year-old from Maidstone was arrested in connection with the incident.

Both men were bailed until August.

Sussex Police said the 26-year-old was also arrested for attempting to inflict grievous bodily harm, and possessing a weapon capable if discharging a noxious liquid or gas, or electrical incapacitation.

The 23-year-old man from Maidstone was arrested on Sunday on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent. He has been released on conditional bail until August 21 while enquiries continue.
