A SEARCH for a missing kayaker went on into the evening yesterday.
Coastguard teams were still out looking for the missing person off the shoreline near Hove Lagoon, at 7.30pm.
HM Coastguard had received a report of someone going into the water just after 10am, and an empty kayak and paddle were found ashore in the area.

Teams from Newhaven and Shoreham joined the search, as well as the Brighton RNLI Lifeboat and a Coastguard Rescue helicopter.
HM Coastguard said: “The search is ongoing but if you have any information about this or can confirm if this person has made it safely to shore please contact the Coastguard as soon as possible on 02392 552100.”
On Friday, HM Coastguard dealt with more than 329 incidents across the UK, which is the highest number of callouts in one day for more than four years.
