A CABIN crew worker gave a positive breath test for having too much to drink while on board an aircraft.
John Guest was working on board an aircraft based out of Gatwick Airport when concerns were raised on a flight in December.
The 42-year-old from East Grinstead was over the legal alcohol limit.
He tested positive for 43 microgrammes (mcg) of alcohol per 100 millilitres (ml) of breath.
The legal limit is nine mcg per 100ml, a quarter of the drink-drive limit of 35mcg per 100ml, as alcohol can affect the brain at high altitude.
It meant Guest was in breach of the Railways and Transport Safety Act on the flight.
At Crawley Magistrates’ Court Guest, of Lingfield Road, East Grinstead, admitted performing an aviation function while impaired by consuming alcohol.
Magistrate Kevin Tween was told that Guest was a cabin crew worker at the time.
Alcohol rules for transport workers were brought in in 2004.
Guest must pay a £206 fine, with a £32 surcharge and £85 costs.
