THE blistering heat which arrived in Sussex over the last week has brought plenty of people out to enjoy the sunshine in the county’s parks, forests, beaches and more.

But humans are certainly not the only species to appreciate a bit of warm weather.

This was proven by recent submissions to The Argus Camera Club, which have been dominated by all sorts of animals and insects, from feathered to frightening.

The Argus:

Where the latter is concerned, Gabor Lenkey served up the order of the day when he posted an up-close-and-personal picture of an eight-legged friend.

Janet Levett and June Sullivan were also inspired by insects for their photographs.

June snapped an acrobatic Privet Hawk Moth clinging, upside down, to a leaf.

The Argus:

Meanwhile Janet was able to capture the moment a bumblebee cleared the way for its landing, touching down on a startling bright yellow flower.

Other camera club members focused on slightly larger, and hungrier, animals.

Claire Andrews was on the receiving end of a piercing look from a peckish seagull, while Donna Page found a greedy squirrel in Brighton. The cheeky customer somehow managed to snag a whole crust of bread.
