LOYAL delivery drivers were presented with hundreds of pounds as a gift for their long service.

East Grinstead building material firm Southern Sheeting presented long-time employees Mick Stevens and Phil Joslin with generous awards for their loyalty.

Phil, 61, pictured left, was given £2,500 for his 25 years at the company.

Mick, 63, pictured right, was awarded £2,000 for his 20 years of service.

“During the lockdown I really enjoyed delivering to people and helping to keep their spirits up by having a laugh and joke together,” said Phil, who plans to spend his cash on garden improvements and a caravan trip in Wales.

“It’s pointless to be miserable about the situation we’re in and it was really good to help people out.

“It’s such a great family atmosphere at Southern Sheeting and they really look after their staff.”

Mick also said working during the pandemic was rewarding.

“Everyone is so friendly and easy going which is perfect for me,” he said.

“I wouldn’t want to work somewhere where I’m just a number.

“It was very rewarding helping people by delivering important construction materials. I just used my common sense and stayed calm.

“People were so appreciative of the service we were providing.”
