A SHOPLIFTER repeatedly stole clothes and electronics items from stores.

Curtis Coombes went into the John Lewis store in Chichester and took Sony speakers.

He also stole clothes from TK Maxx in the city.

The 33-year-old, of no fixed address, appeared before Brighton Magistrates’ Court where his latest crimes were revealed.

Coombes was also in breach of a restraining order made against him, the court heard.

The offences took place within a seven-day period in January.

On January 13 he stole the speakers worth £439 from John Lewis and £200 worth of clothes from TK Maxx.

Then on January 16 he took Bose speakers worth £260 and three Barbour jackets worth £687 from Goodrowes.

Finally on January 20 he stole £200 worth of clothes from TK Maxx again.

Magistrate Mike Hunsworth imposed a four-week suspended sentence.

He ordered Coombes to pay a £50 fine for breaching the restraining order and told the thief to pay £45 in compensation to the retailers.
