A NEW hotel is opening on the seafront.

Selina is on Brighton promenade, almost opposite the i360 and West Pier, will be welcoming guests from tomorrow.

The Argus visited last week for a sneak peek before the big reveal.

The Argus:

General manager Hugo Carvalho said: “Brighton is more open, more quirky and more colour, that’s why I love it here.

“We’re thrilled to bring our unique Selina concept to one of the most exciting cities in the UK and in such a thriving and bohemian neighbourhood full of culture, individuality and a place to cultivate hedonism and escape social restrictions.

The Argus:

“We can’t wait to open our doors and provide a new hub for the Brighton community, a fairground for daring and unadulterated fun.”

Rooms have been decked out with furniture made from pieces of the city’s history.

A table has been fashioned out of wood from the old West Pier and fishermen’s nets hang from the ceilings.

The Argus:

Doors and wooden flooring from the site’s previous incumbents, West Beach Hotel, have been given new leases of life, becoming tables, stands and even bed headboards.

It is all part of the hotel’s up-cycling ethos.

“Instead of landfill, it goes into the hotel,” workshop manager Simon Robson said.

The Argus:

“Someone’s rubbish is another person’s treasure, everything has a purpose and we work so it can become something new.”

Every one of its 31 uniquely designed private rooms, suites and shared rooms room boasts “spectacular” sea views.

Panoramic ocean views are also available from its beachfront restaurant and bar, The Old Pier, which will offer a range of starters and sharers, as well as signature sourdough pizzas.

The lobby area will be a social space for guests and locals alike, offering a grab-and-go coffee shop as well as a retail space selling local products.

A co-working space will also be launching for people to use as a community hub with artwork created and curated by local artist Amy Isles Freeman, whose work themes around “female sexuality, freedom and joy”.

Prices range from £50 to £350.
