POLICE seized a large haul of weapons and imitation firearms from a property.

They uncovered the items while raiding an address in Selsey last Thursday and made an arrest at the scene.

Ahead of the operation, they had been alerted to “concerns over suspicious activity in the area”.

A 38-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of importing prohibited weapons.

She has been released under investigation while enquiries continue.

The raid was carried out by local enforcement teams and officers working with Home Office funding to tackle serious violence and knife crime.

Sergeant Scott Walters said: “We continue to encourage members of the public to report any suspicious activity or behaviour in their area.

“We are determined to proactively enforce laws around possession, importation and use of knives and bladed articles.

“Dangerous items have no place on our streets and it remains a priority for Sussex Police to locate and remove from our communities.”

Anyone who has information about knife crime or has seen anything suspicious is urged to report this online or call 101.

Anyone wanting to report an incident anonymously should call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

In emergencies, call 999.
