WILDLIFE lovers have continued to make a difference to help support endangered sloths.

Drusillas Park in Alfriston has been raising for The Sloth Conservation Foundation (Sloco) this year.

Since launching an appeal, more than £1,500 has been raised, with the park intent on matching every £1 given with £1 itself.

Sloco is based in Costa Rica in Central America, to help the endangered creatures there.

Drusillas zoo animal manager Mark Kenward said: “Conservation is really important to us. Over the years we have raised more than £100,000.

“Sloths are facing the most devastating reality in the wild, so we really want to do what we can to raise funds and support for Sloco.

“This is just an incredible amount of money and the difference it will make to Sloco is huge. This money will go towards building rope bridges across highways so sloths can travel freely over roads without the risk of getting hit by a car. The rope bridges will also help all manner of tree dwelling wildlife in Costa Rica.

“It is heart-breaking to see so many of our beautiful animals losing their homes and natural habitats due to deforestation.”
