Customers were evacuated from a shopping centre when a microwave caught light.
A small fire in the machine in Caffe Alba, on the upper level of Churchill Square shopping centre in Brighton, triggered alarms at 10.20am today.
Firefighters from Brighton attended the scene but did not have to take any action.
A spokeswoman for the fire service said: "It was nothing major - it was mainly a lot of smoke."
Shoppers were allowed back into the centre at 11am.
