AN E-FIT image has been released of a suspected sex attacker who preyed on a lone woman.

The victim, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, was waiting at a bus stop in Sackville Road, Hove.

She was approached by a young man in his mid to late 20s between 4am and 5am on August 15.

He sexually assaulted her at the bus stop in Sackville Road near the railway bridge.

Then he fled into Frith Road and back along Old Shoreham Road and Hove Park.

Police previously revealed they believe the suspect may have been in the area earlier that morning, and want anyone who recognises him to come forward.

The victim has been receiving support from specialist officers, the force said, while extra patrols were being done.

Detectives say the suspect is a thin white man with short, straight hair. He wore a red long-sleeved round neck top and carried a dark coloured backpack.

CCTV footage of the man has been released by the force along with the e-fit.

Detective Constable Paul Thomas said: “The victim is being supported by specially trained officers. We are keen to hear from anyone who recognises the man from the e-fit or anyone who witnessed the incident or saw anyone acting suspiciously in the area.”

Information can be reported to Sussex Police online or call 101 and quote Operation Landgate.
