In response to Russell Ridout and the details he provided about smoing at bus shelters (Letters, November 27) there is one important piece of information that is slightly wrong.
Bus shelters are not the bus company's responsibility, but the council's.
What I find strange is that all the glass ones provided by Adshel have "No smoking" stickers, including the one with a roof and one side outside Lewes Road Garage but the brick and wooden shelters do not (Elm Grove, Ditchling Road, Lewes Road).
I also notice at Gatwick the dedicated smoking shelters have three sides and a roof. These have no stickers on them.
Personally, I would prefer people to confront or report smokers on the bus rather than people standing at bus shelters.
