THERE were nearly 100 coronavirus cases diagnosed in the county over the weekend.

The number of positive tests in Brighton and Hove increased by 15 between 9am on Monday and the same time on Friday.

There are now 907 people who have tested positive in the city since the start of the pandemic.

The rate of infection in Brighton and Hove now stands at 312 cases per 100,000 people, far lower than the England average of 537.

The number of positive tests in West Sussex increased by 65, making its total 3,058.

The number of positive tests in East Sussex increased by 18, making its total 1,741.

The rate of infection in those areas is now 354 and 316 cases per 100,000 people respectively.

Across the UK, the number of recorded cases increased by 7,749 over the period, to 350,100.

Four people have died after testing positive for Covid-19 in England.

No new deaths were recorded in the county.

Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals NHS Trust has recorded 149 deaths. Western Sussex Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust’s total is 114. East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust has recorded 100 deaths, Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust has reported 260, and there have been 18 at the Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust.
