AN UNDERCLIFF path was closed after a man caused a disturbance on a bus.
Witnesses reported a large police presence at Rottingdean early on Saturday morning after a man was seen near the cliff’s edge off the A259 coastal road.
Part of the undercliff walkway between Rottingdean and Ovingdean was closed as a result.
A Sussex Police spokesman said: “At 7.10am on Saturday police were called to the A259 South Coast Road at Roedean after a report of a passenger causing a disturbance and damage on a bus.
“Officers found the man at the nearby cliff top and engaged with him. He was brought to safety after a struggle at 10.30am. Nobody was injured.”
Officers arrested a man in connection with the incident. A force spokesman said: “Fisher Beatty, 27, unemployed, of Balcombe Road, Peacehaven, has been charged with common assault, two counts of criminal damage, assault by beating, assault by beating of an emergency worker and possession of cannabis.”
