ANOTHER Bhasvic student has tested positive for coronavirus.

Students, parents and carers have been told that this is the second confirmed case of a student who attended the Hove college’s A2 Welcome Day.

Two more students have also tested positive for the virus, however they have not been on the Dyke Road site this term.

The email said: “Last night (Sunday) we have been made aware of another member of the college who has tested positive for Covid-19.

“This is the second confirmed case of a Bhasvic student who attended A2 Welcome Day,

“We know of two additional cases where Bhasvic students have tested positive but they have not yet been on site this term.

“We know that you may find this concerning and we are working closely with Public Health England to monitor the situation.

“The small number of individuals who have been in direct prolonged contact with the confirmed case has been contacted and will be staying at home for 14 days (self-isolating).

“Any affected areas have been thoroughly cleaned in accordance with Government guidelines.”

One of the Bhasvic students who attended the A2 welcome day, Alex Swift, was exposed to the Covid-19 virus after attending a small 18th birthday party in Hangleton, which has been linked to four confirmed cases.

The other three who have tested positive for the virus attend Newman College, the sixth form centre at Cardinal Newman Catholic School.

Bhasvic has been contacted for comment.
