At A full meeting of Brighton and Hove City Council in July 2006, councillors decided to overturn an Act of Parliament and build above the cliff line at Brighton Marina, thereby giving permission for the 41-storey tower.
Simon Burgess, the leader of the council at the time, said this would not cause a precedent.
Now, 16 months later, another developer has applied to build a 28-storey tower as part of their redevelopment plans.
Perhaps councillors should decide if this is a marina or a housing estate with a water feature.
Following local elections the council has changed. Are the newly elected councillors going to go back on promises many of them made to look more carefully at these monstrous developments at the east and west ends of the seafront?
