A MAN was charged by police for taking a car without the owner’s consent.
Jack Winstanley is accused of stealing the car and failing to stop after a crash in Widdicombe Way, Brighton on Friday.
Police on patrol saw a Mazda drive at speed and hit a wall before occupants fled from the scene.
Now Winstanley, 18, of Widdicombe Way, has been charged with offences, which also include driving without a valid licence or insurance.
Offences he also face include breaching his bail conditions, and failing to appear in court to be sentenced for burglary.
He was remanded to appear before the crown court on October 12.
