MOTORISTS are being warned to expect delays on main routes through the county because of roadworks.
There are long delays on the northbound carriageway of the A23 at Bolney because of planned works.
The main carriageway has been closed this weekend for the repairs to be done.
UPDATE: A23 reopens in the early hours after roadworks cause traffic chaos>>>
Sussex Traffic Watch reported: "A23 in both directions towards the roadworks at Hickstead and Bolney long delays again this morning especially northbound queuing traffic from Albourne."
It was reported that there was more than a mile and a half of queueing vehicles on the northbound carriageway, while on the southbound carriageway traffic is moving slowly all the way from Handcross and through Staplefield to Hickstead and Bolney.
Argus reader Neil Kempshall said: "[There are] massive tailbacks on the A23 heading north near Hickstead, avoid it if you can."
Meanwhile roadworks at Polegate continue to cause delays to motorists at the junction of the A27 and A22 as roadworks continue.
Sussex Traffic Watch reported on Twitter that it was taking some motorists 30 minutes to pass through the area.
