A GUN-TOTING robber on a motorbike has been jailed for robbery.

Jack Chambers threatened a victim walking in East Grinstead with a “long barrelled weapon” now believed to be an air rifle.

Two suspects were on a motorbike and demanded that the victim hand over his belongings during the robbery in Lewes Road in the town at 12.30am on April 26.

Polive investigators described it as a “terrifying” ordeal for the victim.

Officers later searched the 19-year-old’s home and found items belonging to the victim.

He was arrested on suspicion of robbery and possession of an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear.of violence.

Chambers, of Holtye Avenue, East Grinstead, admitted the two charged at Lewes Crown Court.

He was jailed for three years over the incident.

Investigator Lauren Chapman said: “This was a terrifying ordeal for the victim who was walking home from work when they were attacked and threatened with a weapon that resembled a gun.

“Thankfully Chambers was apprehended soon after the incident and put on remand.

“We’re hugely grateful to the local community who came together to provide information that assisted with our investigation.”
