AN ENTIRE year group have been sent home from school after two pupils tested positive for coronavirus.

Pupils in Year 10 at Steyning Grammar School's Shooting Field campus have been told to self-isolate after two of them contracted Covid-19.

Parents were told of the decision yesterday and today The Argus received a statement from the school.

Assistant headteacher Luke Talbot said: "We have notified staff, parents and students of two confirmed cases of Covid-19 at Steyning Grammar School Shooting Field campus in Year 10.

"Student and staff safety is of paramount importance to us and we have made the decision to send all of Year 10 home to self-isolate for 14 days.

"We have stringently followed government guidelines and are working closely with the Public Health Team.

"We know that parents may find this concerning but are continuing to monitor the situation and are working closely with Public Health England.

"Parents have been informed of the current situation and provided with advice on how to support their child.

"The school remains open for all other years and students should continue to attend if they remain well."
