A MAN was arrested after scaling over a front entrance at a police station.

Officers reported that a man climbed up above the entrance doors inside the station in John Street, Brighton in a protest.

He had earlier “refused to leave” the lobby area of the station, the force said.

So he climbed onto the atrium entrance inside the front door.

Earlier police said: “Officers are dealing with the situation and no one has been harmed."

Witnesses said John Street was cordoned off by officers.

Following the drama on Sunday Brighton and Hove Police posted on Twitter: "A man who refused to leave the lobby area of John Street Police Station  today and climbed onto the atrium inside the front door has been detained.

"He climbed down and has been arrested on suspicion of criminal damage. No one was harmed."
