TWO women have been nominated for top business awards for their efforts at a transport firm.

Kirstie Bull and Vicky Doyle have led the way for other women in careers in transport and logistics by working for Brighton and Hove Buses.

They were invited to attend the Everywoman Awards and won the Above and Beyond Customer and/or Passenger Award.

Vicky Doyle leads the company’s marketing and communications and was a runner-up for Industry Champion Award for boosting the prospects of women in the industry.

Kirstie won the award for her excellent role in working with customers.

She joined as a driver at the Lewes Road depot in 1998, and was recently promoted to operations manager (designate) at the Conway Street depot in Hove.

She is in charge of managing 200 drivers on the city’s transport routes.

Bus company managing director Martin Harris said they are both “great ambassadors and important role models” for women in the business.

He said Kirstie has worked through the ranks while Kirstie had put in place the company’s plan to serve customers and communities.

Judges praised Brighton and Hove Buses for creating a culture of trust and an open-door policy for being inclusive, Mr Harris said.

Everywoman has 30,000 members nationwide.
