A PRIMARY school is celebrating the success of running its first scarecrow festival.

Students from Two Village Primary School, in Ramsey, as well as local residents took part in the school's scarecrow making festivities.

Many were brought into school for all of the children to enjoy on Monday.

Each class had the opportunity to enjoy freshly baked cupcakes whilst viewing and admiring the different character scarecrows on display.

The theme of the competition was traditional tales and the children were excited to see the Gruffalo scarecrow and various characters from Alice in Wonderland, like the Mad Hatter and the Queen of Hearts.

The overall winner was a very original and interesting upside-down Mr Twit Scarecrow, made by siblings Imogen, ten, and Max Tyers, six, who were awarded the first place rosette.

Coming in a close second were siblings Tommy, six, and Talia-Rose Lefevre, five, who created their own mini-me scarecrows to tell their own story.

The adult winner was Jessica Foster.

Headteacher Mrs Bennett said: "I am so proud of our first ever Two Village Scarecrow Festival and of the tremendous effort that our children have put into creating their scarecrows.

"The school looks terrific and the festival coincides wonderfully with our celebration of Harvest, both in school and online.

"I'm very much looking forward to next year's event when we hope to invite the community in for a scarecrow spectacular.

"We would like to say a special thank you to Holt Farm and Hamford View for their kind donations."
