A YOUNG woman appeared in court accused of luring a man in a bid to murder him in a park.

Sophie George, 18, was arrested by police in Ryelands Drive, Brighton, near Wild Park in the Moulsecoomb area.

Officers responded to a 999 call after seeing a van driving erratically.

She is alleged to have attempted to murder Adam Yiosese from London.

George, of Highbrook Close, Brighton, was also charged with possession of a knife in Ryelands Drive.

Police were called to the scene on Saturday.

She appeared before Brighton Magistrates' Court today where she spoke to confirm her name, address, and date of birth.

George was represented by solicitor Sarah Smith, while Suzanne Soros represented the prosecution at the hearing.

District Judge Tessa Szagun told her: "I will have to explain to you that these matters have to be sent to the crown court.

"The possession of the knife is linked to the attempted murder case so it must go to the crown court."

George was remanded in custody and will next appear before either Lewes, Hove or Brighton Crown Court on November 9.
