PLANS to demolish a bungalow and replace it with a terrace of five homes have been approved by Horsham District Council.
The application, for Ridgehurst Drive, was given the nod during a meeting of the planning committee on Tuesday (October 6), though some members were not happy with the design of the new homes.
Christine Costin (Lib Dem, Trafalgar) said it was a ‘very disappointing’ and ‘lacks imagination’, while Ruth Fletcher (Lib Dem, Denne) said she was frustrated that the design would ‘inevtably lead to on-road parking’.
The council received 15 objections to the plans as well as an objection from Horsham Denne Neighbourhood Council, which said it was over-development and out of character with the rest of the estate.
All five homes would have two bedrooms and members recognised the need for these.
Frances Haigh (Lib Dem, Denne) said: “We do have a requirement for houses like this. It’s very much that we need homes of this size for the young people living in our town.”
