A 60-YEAR-OLD man who confessed his love of Fatboy Slim on Channel 4’s First Dates has been described by the DJ as "my core audience".

Appearing on the dating show, Andrew revealed his love of the DJ, who lives in Hove.

When his date Meryl, 60, asked what music he enjoyed listening to, Andrew replied: “Fatboy Slim.”

Meryl laughed in respond with Andrew asking: “What’s funny about that? What’s wrong with liking Fatboy Slim?”

“My son DJs quite regularly in clubs. He’s met Fatboy Slim, so have I.”

Sharing a clip of the moment on Twitter, Norman Cook wrote: “My core audience.”

Fans were quick to respond tweet, with one writing: “Please, please get them to a gig together when you can. They were wonderful.”

Another replied: “If they marry, do I have to say you’d have to be their wedding DJ?”

While Meryl did not share Andrew’s love for the Praise You star, the couple agreed to a second date and even discussed partying in Ibiza.

Fatboy Slim performed in Ibiza in August 2020, in one of his only live performances this year.

The DJ has also spoken out in support of the events industry which continues to struggle with the impact of Covid-19.

In a tweet he said: “The UK events sector looks unlikely to reopen until next summer at best.

“Hundreds of thousands of people that work in the industry need government support to survive the crisis.”

This week, it was announced that 140 arts and cultural organisations will benefit from £25 million boost from the government, to help the sector recover.

In the South East, a total of £25,191,849 has been handed out to save 146 venues, theatres and organisations.

Brighton Dome and Brighton Festival, along with its music services, have been given a total of £841,000 to help recover from the impact of the virus.
