PEOPLE have been urged to "dial 999 immediately" if they see a man who absconded from prison.
Jay Davis has been on the run for five days after going missing from Ford Prison, near Littlehampton, on Monday morning.
The 33-year-old was serving a sentence for possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.
He was reported to have gone missing at about 8am on Monday and was captured by CCTV cameras entering Chichester railway station later that morning (as seen below).
Sussex Police have now launched an urgent appeal, asking anyone who has information which could help officers track him down to contact the force.
Davis is about 5ft 6in tall, slim and has brown hair.
He is known to have links to Sussex and Hampshire.
A spokesman said: "Police are searching for Jay Davis, who is wanted for absconding from Ford Prison.
"Anyone who sees him is advised not to approach him, but to dial 999 immediately.
"If you see him in Sussex please use the reference 47200176527.
