POLICE are investigating a report of a girl being sexually assaulted as she walked to school.
The incident happened in an alleyway off Green Street, Eastbourne, on the morning of September 30.
A Sussex Police spokeswoman said: "A man approached the victim at about 7.45am in an alleyway off Green Street, near to Northiam Road.
"He then assaulted her before she was able to run away.
"She continued on her way to school, where it was then reported to police."
The man has described to police as being white, about 50 years old and approximately 6ft tall.
He is of large build and has dark hair.
The Sussex Police spokeswoman said: "He was wearing a blue disposable face mask and blue disposable gloves.
"He was also wearing a plain black zip-up hooded jumper with the hood up and plain black jogging bottoms.
"Anyone who saw what happened, or who witnessed any suspicious behaviour in the area at the time, is asked to contact police online or by calling 101 quoting serial 388 of 30/09."
