A BRIGHTON primary school teacher has found love on Channel 4 show Married at First Sight.

Michelle Jenkins, 25, from Hastings went on the Channel 4 reality-TV show, in which single people marry complete strangers, matched to them by experts.

She looks to have found her perfect partner in 31-year-old Owen Jenkins from Sheffield.

Michelle and Owen tied the knot just a week before Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced a national lockdown.

After marrying in a luxury ceremony at Eastwell Manor in Kent, the couple enjoyed a weeklong honeymoon in order to get to know one another.

The newlyweds then decided to take the plunge and move in together in Sussex to be closer to the school where Michelle teaches despite only knowing each other for one week.

Owen said: “It's exciting because obviously I get to keep living with my wife but nerve-wracking, terrifying, because she's only been my wife and I only met her a week and a bit ago.”

Within just 24 hours of moving in together, the nation went into lockdown and the couple relocated to Horsham to self-isolate together.

It was here where love blossomed between the pair.

Six weeks into the process, the couple reflected on lockdown life with Michelle saying: “We've been so lucky we've been able to spend this time together.”

Owen said: “It's just been one of the best things that has happened to me.”

Michelle told Owen that she had never “really felt this way before” and said she didn’t expect to “love you as much as I do now.”

The feelings were mutual and Owen replied: “I love you too.”

The IT manager later told the camera that “dropping the L bomb is quite a big one but it felt right and I genuinely do love Michelle.”

However, the couple now must deal with the prospect of parting ways with work drawing them back to their prospective hometowns.

The day Michelle and Owen leave their lockdown home, the couple admitted they were both worried about the future.
