AN INFLUENCER hopes her baking videos on Instagram will encourage her followers to “celebrate food”.

Nelly London has been a hit on the social media platform since starting a regular series of baking videos.

Her Instagram stories of her baking everything from Lotus Biscoff brownies to banana bread have now been viewed hundreds of thousands of times.

Nelly, who lives in Hove, hopes that her stories will encourage her followers to “celebrate food” with her after she recovered from an eating disorder.

The underwear model first started having issues, including anorexia, bulimia and binge eating, at the age of 12.

After going through recovery and seeking help from a specialist, she now uses her social media platforms to promote body positivity and encourage “happiness around food”.

She said: “On my page I always try and talk about body acceptance and body confidence and eating disorder recovery.

“I found for me it was a really nice way to celebrate food and show that food isn’t something to be feared and is something to be enjoyed.

“It’s just a fun way to enjoy food which I know for a lot of people they really struggle with, especially people who have experienced eating disorders.

“So although it is a nice thing that has come on the side, it is a really enjoyable way to encourage celebration and love and happiness around food.

“On a Sunday night you don’t have to prepare seven meals for the week ahead, you can just chill out and do something you enjoy.”

Nelly has now amassed an Instagram following of more than 267,000, sharing her tips for self-love and body positivity and has become an ambassador for well-known brands such as Gymshark and Misguided.

While baking is not her main content, it has quickly become a well-loved feature and something she wants to continue to develop.

She said: “On my page I do focus a lot on fashion, beauty and underwear and I feel like baking is just a part of me and it’s always been a part of me and always just been something that I’ve enjoyed.

“When you compare my baking Sunday views to my normal Instagram story views, they are almost double.

“It is just made how people really like them and they will come back to my page specifically on a Sunday afternoon just to see what I’m making.

“Everything I bake is always really easy, I never do complicated stuff.

“I think people find it quite satisfying to watch.

“I speed up the videos, so you can see the cakes rise and I think there’s something about it that is just really calm and soothing.”

Despite her baking success, Nelly does not have any plans to take part in the next series of Great British Bake Off.

“Everyone always asks me to try the technical challenges, but I’m not as talented as those contestants,” she said.
