THREE boats have been left stranded on the beach after they were washed ashore during rough seas yesterday.
Littlehampton Coastguard Rescue Team were tasked to secure the boats shortly before 1am on Tuesday.
Rough seas had forced the vessels ashore, leaving them stranded on the beach between Ferring and Littlehampton.
One owner has been contacted and is arranging the recovery of his vessel.
A spokesman for the Coastguard said: "Yesterday, Littlehampton Coastguard Rescue Team attended to three vessels washed ashore between Ferring and Littlehampton.
"Upon investigating, the Team secured the vessels and established that there were no signs of recent occupancy. The vessels were marked safe by the Coastguard.
"Littlehampton Harbour Master was made aware of the vessels, as were Sussex Police. Further enquiries are being made at this time to establish vessel ownership, with contact to be made with vessel owners to arrange recovery.
"Please always be minded to call 999 and ask for the Coastguard if you come across any vessels washed ashore or unattended vessels out at sea."
