A ROAD was closed after a crash left a car flipped on its side.

Emergency services were called to Eastern Avenue in Shoreham today.

Pictures from the scene show a collision between a black Nissan and a black Vauxhall near the level crossing.

Traffic reports said there were delays for motorists in the area.

West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service are understood to have cut someone free from the wreckage of the car.

Meanwhile paramedics from the ambulance service were also on standby.

Police were called in to close the road.

West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said: “We were called to reports of a road traffic collision in Eastern Avenue in Shoreham at 12.32pm where a car was on its side.

“Fire engines were sent from Shoreham and Hove, and the heavy rescue tender unit was sent from Worthing was also called out.

“Police and the ambulance service were also in attendance when crews arrived. Crews left the scene after 1.15pm.”

It is not yet known if anyone was seriously hurt in the crash.
