PEOPLE were left stunned after spotting a more than a dozen horses running around a town park.
In the early hours of this morning, people living near Big Park in Peacehaven spotted the horses running around the green's football pitch.
Alison Jones, who lives two minutes away and spotted the animals at 6.15am, said: "It certainly was a shock walking into the park - I thought I was seeing things.
"There were quite a few Shetland ponies, I had three dogs so I had my hands full."
It has been reported locally the animals were from the valley near the farm shop in Piddinghoe.
It is alleged that dog walkers had left the gate open.
Ms Jones said: "They were very friendly and I tried to take a pic, but it is not clear.
"It is a good reminder that if out walking in fields, you should shut gates after you.
"Can you imagine the carnage if they had got out onto a road?"
