THERE have now been 786 cases of coronavirus recorded within the communities of Brighton universities since studies resumed in September.

The University of Sussex has recorded the highest total with 546 total cases, while there have been 226 reported at the University of Brighton.

Of the cases at the University of Sussex, 346 have been students on its Falmer campus, 193 have been students living off campus, six have been staff based off campus and one has been another person associated with the institution.

In the seven days leading up to November 2, there were 44 off campus cases and 39 on campus cases reported.

During the same period, there were 45 student cases and two staff cases recorded by the University of Brighton.

Brighton and Hove City Council provides coronavirus statistics based on figures from Public Health England.In the week leading up to October 28, the most recent figure issued, there were 459 confirmed cases in the city.

This meant there was a seven-day rolling rate of 157.8 cases per 100,000 people.

Up to November 1, there have been a total of 2,578 positive coronavirus tests in Brighton and Hove.
