A MAN was killed in an incident on a railway line.
Officers were called to the tracks near Hampden Park Station in Eastbourne shortly after 6pm yesterday.
Paramedics were also sent to the site following reports of a casualty on the tracks.
A British Transport Police spokesman said: "Sadly, a person was pronounced dead at the scene.
"This incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file is being prepared for the coroner."
Trains were halted between Eastbourne and Lewes for more than two hours as police attended the scene, with services restarting shortly after 8.20pm.
Operator Southern Rail advised people looking to travel between the towns against using its services with disruption continuing until late.
Rail replacement buses were put in place between Lewes and Eastbourne and between Eastbourne and Hastings to provide an alternative to stuck passengers.
