TWO more people in Sussex are reported to have died with coronavirus over the last 24 hours.

NHS England figures show 162 people have died in hospital at Western Sussex Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust as of 5pm on Wednesday.

That was an increase of one compared with Tuesday, when the total was 161.

It means there have been six deaths at the trust in the past week. The previous week there were four deaths recorded. Figures show 130 people have died in hospital at Western Sussex Hospitals Trust.

That was also an increase of one compared with Tuesday, when the total was 129.

There have been three deaths in the past week at the trust.

The victims were among 3,800 deaths recorded across the South East.

Daily death counts are revised each day, with each case backdated to the actual date of death. This means some of the deaths that were recorded in the latest period may have taken place days earlier.

Case and death data for the UK was not available as of 6pm yesterday.

A spokesman for the Department of Health and Social Care said: “Owing to technical difficulties, we have not received cases data for England.

“We will update the service as soon as possible.”

Since the start of the pandemic, there have been 2,650 cases in Brighton and Hove, 3,430 in East Sussex and 6,223 in West Sussex.
