MCDONALD'S has revealed its Christmas advert for 2020 - and it is guaranteed to pull on the heartstrings.

Featuring a soundtrack from Becky Hill, the 90-second TV ad has been released as part of the chain's #ReindeerReady campaign.

The ad tells the story of a mother trying to encourage her teenage son to put down his screens and take part in family rituals in the run up to Christmas.

It will premiere on Sunday during ITVs I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here! in a takeover of the full 90-second advert break.

It comes as McDonald’s pledges to donate funding to enable FareShare to redistribute a further four million meals to families in need before next Easter as part of the same campaign.

Singer Becky Hill, who performs her rendition of Forever Young in the ad, said: “Christmas is my most favourite time of year and I think everyone is in need of a good one in 2020 especially.

"I am so chuffed to be a part of this campaign, not only to be bringing the nation Christmas cheer through the lovely TV ad from McDonald’s, but also to be supporting those families in greatest need.

"I can’t wait to hear what my fans thinking of my version of Forever Young, and really hope the downloads raise a lot of money for FareShare and the fantastic work they do.”

What McDonald's has said

Paul Pomroy, Chief Executive Officer, McDonald’s UK and Ireland said: “In a year like no other, I am proud that we can stand together with organisations like FareShare and the End Child Food Poverty Task Force to support those in greatest need.

"Together with our franchisees, we will provide funding to the charity to enable them to redistribute over five million meals to vulnerable families.

"We hope our donation goes some way to supporting those in the communities in which we operate this Christmas and into 2021.”

What FareShare has said about the ad

Alyson Walsh, FareShare Commercial Director, said: "We’re extremely grateful that McDonalds is extending its generous support to our mission and specifically enabling us to get meals to those in need between now and Easter.

"We know first-hand how much communities are struggling at the moment and this partnership means that we can support grass roots organisations across the UK with much-needed food both now and in the months to come.”
