IT has been a difficult year for pubs up and down the country due to the coronavirus pandemic - but do you remember these Southend boozers which are long gone?
Our favourite watering holes have closed their doors once again due to a second national lockdown being put in place earlier this month.
While the current landlords are doing everything they can to ensure they reopen as planned next month, the owners of these pubs were not so lucky in years gone by.
The Lost Pubs Project - found at closedpubs.co.uk - remembers pubs which some may have forgotten and it is fascinating to think of them being thriving businesses in their heyday.
So, while we cannot go out for a pint at the moment, join us on a pub crawl like no other with these eye-catching snaps.
The Cork and Cheese - pictured above - was a "real ale" pub at the bottom of the Victoria shopping centre. It shut its doors in June, 2007.
The Minerva was on Southend seafront - next to the Kursaal. The building was empty for years after closure. It was taken over by businessmen five years ago and replaced with the Bourgee restaurant.
