A DATE for a second anti-lockdown protest has been set by organisers, days after the current restrictions are due to end.

Organised by Louise Creffield, a mother from Brighton, the demonstration is due to be held on December 12.

Last weekend, hundreds of people flocked to the seafront and marched unmasked through the city in protest against coronavirus restrictions.

Protesters held signs and banners with anti-lockdown and anti-vaccine messages.

The rally, organised by anti-lockdown campaign groups Save Our Rights UK and Event 202, began at the Peace Statue by Hove Lawns at noon.

Ms Creffield is Brighton organiser of Save Our Rights UK, said the protest was a success.

She said: “I would argue that we are pro-rights and not anti-lockdown.

“When I speak to people about it, I get quite a positive response, even from people who start of thinking we are crazy, anti-lockdown conspiracy theorists.

“I am concerned about people’s rights and about preserving life. We all are. No one is anti-human rights.

“My argument is that lockdown is killing people.”

If restrictions permit, the group plans to have a number of public speakers tell their lockdown stories.

Passerbys described “shock” and “sadness” at the anti-lockdown demonstration which took place in Brighton last week.

Resident Mike Morrison was enjoying a seafront walk with his two children, Zadie and Johann, when the protesters marched by.

The 49-year-old told the Argus at the time: “I think it’s sad people are spending this much time and effort protesting against something so fickle. There is so much Mickey Mouse stuff here thrown together. These people are talking about things like QAnon and 5G.”

Current restrictions are due to end at 12.01 am on Wednesday, December 2.
