A UNIVERSITY has been named among the top 200 in the world by leading academics from around the globe.

The University of Sussex has been included in the Times Higher Education World Reputation Rankings for the first time in the listings’ nine-year history.

The latest rankings place Sussex as the 24th best in the UK and among the top 176 to 200 in the world.

The rankings are based on the world’s largest invitation-only opinion survey of senior, published academics, which ask scholars to name 15 universities they believe are the best for research and teaching in their field, based on their own experience.

Sussex, St Andrew’s and Lancaster are the only UK universities in the elite rankings that are not members of the Russell Group. Sussex’s inclusion helped the UK achieve the second highest number of representatives in the ranking, at 25, behind the US with 60.
