A TEENAGER admitted setting fire to a medical centre and causing thousands of pounds worth of damage.
Jay Collop caused the blaze at the Seaside Medical Centre in Sheen Road, Eastbourne in January.
Flames spread from a letterbox, and while the surgery was not affected, it cost nearly £11,000 to repair the damage, a court heard.
Two fire engines were called to the scene at 2am, along with police.
At Hastings Magistrates’ Court Collop admitted arson.
The 18-year-old, of Cambridge Road, Eastbourne, was given a six-month suspended prison sentence.
He was spared prison because of his age at the time of the attack, and because of his autism, court documents show.
Collop was put under a curfew from 7pm to 7am every day for 12 weeks after the hearing on October 6.
