Plans to develop a new hotel and office complex opposite Watford Junction have been revised.

Applicant Tellon Capital submitted plans this year to redevelop Cassiobury House, a 1970s building in Station Road – many people will know as the place where a driver theory test is taken.

Under the proposal, the current six-storey office building would be demolished and replaced with 43,000sq ft of new office space and a 168-bed hotel with a restaurant and car parking spaces.

But people living nearby were concerned about the height of the proposed office building – and campaign under the name of Cassiobury House Action Group was launched.

In light of the campaign group, and following public consultation, Tellon Capital has made some changes to its proposed scheme.

The applicants say although the overall height of the proposed development remains unchanged.

The hotel block has been "stepped back" in height in order to "reduce impact" on neighbours in Canterbury Road - but the building has grown in height slightly at the front in Station Road.

James Burchell, Partner at Tellon Capital, said: "We are grateful for the feedback received to-date, which has allowed us to positively evolve our plans.

"We look forward to continuing to engage with stakeholders as the planning process continues, allowing us to deliver this positive regeneration for Watford that will attract businesses and investment to the area by meeting an identified need for modern office space and hotel rooms."
