REPORTS of a man threatening passengers with a screwdriver brought trains to halt on the Brighton mainline.
A 29-year-old man was arrested after police rushed to Wivelsfield Station at 3.20pm yesterday.
A spokesman for British Transport Police said: “Officers quickly attended and the man was arrested on suspicion of possessing a bladed article, possession of cannabis and a public order offence.
“He was taken to police custody for questioning, and has now been released on bail pending further enquiries.”
Trains on the line towards Gatwick Airport were delayed and cancelled for hours due to the incident.
Travellers were asked to take extra time to complete their journeys.
