A SUSPECTED drug-driver has been arrested after a city centre crash with a moped.

At 3.45pm on Monday, a moped and a VW Gold saloon crashed on the eastbound A259 Grand Junction Road, near Brighton Palace Pier.

The 18-year-old man riding the moped was treated for bruising at the Royal Sussex County Hospital before being discharged on the same day.

The 21-year-old man driving the car was arrested on suspicion of driving whilst unfit through drugs, and of dangerous driving. He has been released under investigation after an interview.

A spokesman for Sussex Police said: “Two passengers in the car, both believed to be male, left the scene before the arrival of police and have not been traced.
