ONE more person has died after testing positive for coronavirus in Brighton and Hove.

Latest NHS England figures show 181 people had died in hospital at Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals NHS Trust as of 5pm on Wednesday, November 18.

It means there have been nine deaths in the past week, down from ten the previous week.

The number of recorded coronavirus cases in the area has also increased by 42.

Public Health England figures show that 3,774 people had been confirmed as testing positive for Covid-19 by 9am on Thursday, November 19 in Brighton and Hove- up from 3,732 the same time on Wednesday.

The rate of infection in the area now stands at 1,297 cases per 100,000 people, far lower than the England average of 2,220.

Across the UK, the number of recorded cases increased by 22,915 over the period to 1,453,256.

In West Sussex, the number of people who tested positive for the virus increased by 230.

Figures show that 8,191 people had been confirmed as testing positive for Covid-19 by 9am on Thursday, November 19 in West Sussex - a rise of 7,961 from the same time on Wednesday.

While in East Sussex, the number of covid-19 increased by 172 over the last 24 hours.

East Sussex's cases were among the 113,501 recorded across the South East, a figure which rose by 2,527 over the period.
