HUMAN remains have been found on a grass bank.

The discovery of a human bone in Brook Street, Lewes, yesterday has prompted the police to call in a specialist unit to investigate the finding.

A team is sifting through dirt and leaves on a grass bank near the St John Castro Sub Graveyard.

A spokesman for Sussex Police said they were alerted to the findings at 3pm on yesterday.

“The remains were located on a bank directly next to the St John sub Castro churchyard,” the spokesman said.

“Sussex Police are working with partner agencies and at this time are not treating this as suspicious.”

Video from the scene shows a masked team on the bank carefully sifting through the soil and shrubbery.

Police officers can be seen at the entrance to a tent located at the bottom of the hill.
