DAVINA McCall is set to host a special night of online entertainment as an annual fundraising event could not take place due to coronavirus.

Dine with Davina normally hosts about 450 guests and raises tens of thousands of pounds for the children’s charity Action Medical Research in Horsham every year.

As the event cannot go ahead amid the pandemic, this year supporters are being urged to join in online with Davina’s Night In, which kicks off tomorrow night from 8pm.

The virtual fundraiser will be an evening of conversation and entertainment, with an auction and the chance to win a range of prizes in the Star Prize Draw, including a £1,000 designer handbag, a year’s supply of Garnier face masks worth over £400 and an overnight stay in the Leonardo Royal Grand Harbour Hotel in Southampton.

The former host of Big Brother is an ambassador for the charity, having first been introduced to Action Medical Research years ago by her late grandmother Pippy, a fundraiser from Sussex.

One of the charity’s event organisers Ruth Dean said: “We are so grateful to Davina for hosting this special event and are really looking forward to the evening, which will feature the ex-Mr England, Jordan Williams, as well as some other special guests.

“It will be a great way to hear from the amazing Davina from the comfort of your own home, all while helping to raise money for vital medical research.”

Action Medical Research is a UK-wide charity which funds research to tackle diseases that can devastate the lives of children.

Since launching in 1952, the charity has funded a number of medical breakthroughs, including helping to introduce the first polio vaccines in the UK, developing the use of ultrasound in pregnancy and testing the rubella vaccine.

The charity is now driving forward research to help protect children in the fight against Covid-19.
