His family have now issued a touching tribute.
It reads: "Dave, beloved husband to Wendy, father to Kathryn and Tom, stepfather to Laura, Adam and Craig, grandfather to Ross, Sophie, Jack, Ivy, Isaac and Lucy.
"He will be very sorely and sadly missed by everyone who knew and loved him."
Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses to the crash as officers work to establish the circumstances surrounding the fatal incident.
The collision involved a heavy goods vehicle, a Nissan Navara, a Mercedes Vito van and the Citroen Relay van being driven by David.
A Hampshire Police spokesman said: "Anyone who witnessed the incident or with information that may assist should call 101, quoting the reference 44200444863."
