EXTINCTION Rebellion Brighton is encouraging people to give away unwanted items online as a Black Friday alternative to reduce waste.
The environmental group is looking to continue its free market idea from last year, which was held at Churchill Square.
This time it will be online format due to the national lockdown.
Last year’s event saw Extinction Rebellion protestors barricaded outside the Churchill Square arcade by police, leaving shoppers stuck inside the shopping centre.

Extinction Rebellion Brighton said on its Facebook page: “Let’s counter it [Black Friday] by giving away our unwanted items in an Extinction Rebellion online action.List any good quality item, maybe something that could make a good Christmas gift.”
The campaign group is encouraging people to get involved in the online market through a free sharing app called “Olio”.
Black Friday is this Friday. What was originally an American tradition has since spread to the UK, with almost every major brand and retailer offering sale bargains.
This year, many are extending the event to a week or more online because of the lockdown.
